Still relatively obscure in the U.S., Biffy Clyro played to a sold-out crowd at the Satellite last night. They have a hardcore following, with a majority of the crowd rocking out, fists in the air, singing along to every lyric…and those were the guys! When you meet someone at a show, the first question is inevitably, “how did YOU hear about them?” For me, it was a couple of years ago when Muse sent out a sampler of all the bands that opened for them in Europe…I was hooked on their song “Bubbles” from the get-go. I played their CD for my friend Jane, and for her it was their song “God & Satan” (which message is thought-provoking, but delivered with catchy lyrics). Last night I dragged Tammy out, and by the second song she was a goner. I am slowly, but surely luring my friends to the dark side. They’re talented (imagine if Muse and Foo Fighters had a love child) and they’re Scottish…it’s not rocket science!
Definitely catch them live if you ever have the opportunity. Very soon you’ll be sorry you didn’t take advantage of seeing them for less than $20.
