It was Paul McDonald’s unique voice that landed him the 8th place on America Idol (Season 10), even though he didn’t take home the grand prize he did take the experience and made it his own. Before AI, McDonald was working steadily  touring with his bands Hightide Blues and The Grand Magnolias. If that wasn’t enough to keep him busy in 2012,  he formed yet another band with ex-wife Nikki Reed and they released an EP called  ‘The Best Part’ that had some Billboard and iTunes success which caused more people to take notice his songwriting abilities.

Even with all the success with his various bands, McDonald has been working on a solo album. He just released his new single ‘Bright Light’ and has a Kickstarter campaign in support of his untitled solo album he plans to release in 2015.

I have to say I LOVE this new single!

‘Bright Lights’ is a great catchy song that will definitely be added to my playlist. Silly as it sounds it’s the type of song that stays in your head and makes you burst out into song at any moment. After listening to Bright Lights its safe to say Paul McDonald is no longer pegion-hold in the coutry/rock genre, this song reflects his songwriting abilities has grown and willing to take chances. Each time I listen to this song I become excited about his upcoming album!

As an indie supporter, I’ve learned putting a CD together isn’t cheap. I know artists who have sold almost all their worldly possessions just to raise funds to either tour or make an album. So when I hear about Kickstarter or Go Fund Me campaigns I try to get the message out as well as donate. I’m far from rich and can’t plop down hundreds of dollars so I donate what I can and  I think every little bit helps and the artists appreciates the effort.
