Video: Elderbrook – Could (Official Video)

Elderbook

Last month musician Alexander Kotz aka Elderbrook released his new single Could’ from his highly anticipated EP ‘Simmer Down’. When the song first started I thought it was going to be your typical electronic pop song but I was completely wrong. There is something about the beat that will make you want to sway and the stripped down vocals will make you want to sing along.

Whenever I listen to Could I think of a nice glass of red wine. Not some el-cheapo wine, I’m talking that good Olivia Pope worthy wine. To me wine is the adulthood of alcohol, so Could is my adulthood song. Remember you don’t have to run to the nearest club to enjoy this song, just open that bottle of wine and dance in your living room.

And did I mention this twenty year old musician is self taught? I’m so impress but this little tidbit of information. As someone who has taken many guitar lesson and still cannot play a song this is an impressive feat.

Music Monday: Falling for Daniel Champagne

20141116_201231

A couple of weeks ago I went to Santa Barbara to see Bobby Long in concert. (It was an amazing show, btw…) I was unaware there was going to be an opening act. I happened to be getting a cold and I set outside to get some fresh air – but I am so glad that I stepped back inside in time to catch this gentleman perform.

His name is Daniel Champagne. I have seen many concerts and show where people play different things to make the sounds of drums and/or beats, such as wooden boxes, trash cans, etc. But Daniel uses his guitar. I have never seen anything like it. I was blown away by his talent.

I managed to get an 8:13 video of his last song of the night. I know it’s long but it’s totally worth the watch.

Daniel Champagne – Live at SOhO, Santa Barbara, November 16th

You can find more of Daniel’s music on his website. You will find all of his social media links there as well.

New Music: Paul McDonald – Bright Lights

It was Paul McDonald’s unique voice that landed him the 8th place on America Idol (Season 10), even though he didn’t take home the grand prize he did take the experience and made it his own. Before AI, McDonald was working steadily  touring with his bands Hightide Blues and The Grand Magnolias. If that wasn’t enough to keep him busy in 2012,  he formed yet another band with ex-wife Nikki Reed and they released an EP called  ‘The Best Part’ that had some Billboard and iTunes success which caused more people to take notice his songwriting abilities.

Even with all the success with his various bands, McDonald has been working on a solo album. He just released his new single ‘Bright Light’ and has a Kickstarter campaign in support of his untitled solo album he plans to release in 2015.

I have to say I LOVE this new single!

Bright Lights’ is a great catchy song that will definitely be added to my playlist. Silly as it sounds it’s the type of song that stays in your head and makes you burst out into song at any moment. After listening to Bright Lights its safe to say Paul McDonald is no longer pegion-hold in the coutry/rock genre, this song reflects his songwriting abilities has grown and willing to take chances. Each time I listen to this song I become excited about his upcoming album!

As an indie supporter, I’ve learned putting a CD together isn’t cheap. I know artists who have sold almost all their worldly possessions just to raise funds to either tour or make an album. So when I hear about Kickstarter or Go Fund Me campaigns I try to get the message out as well as donate. I’m far from rich and can’t plop down hundreds of dollars so I donate what I can and  I think every little bit helps and the artists appreciates the effort.

So with that said please take a moment and check out his Kickstarter campaign —-> PAUL McDONALD KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN!

Music Monday: We Are Stars – Virginia To Vegas ft Alyssa Reid

Virginia To Vegas & Alyssa Reid

I was researching another band and came across Derik Baker’s project Virginia to Vegas on YouTube. I must have listened to ‘We Are Stars’ featuring Alyssa Reid for an entire hour, it was safe to say my research shot to hell – this song grabbed me!!

It’s one of those songs I will add to my ‘Motivate Me’ playlist mainly because the catchy melody makes the powerful lyrics seem breezy. Here’s a little truth, recently had this conversation with a new friend, we went from friendly playful banter to this intense deep conversation about life, love and letting go of fear. And I think one of the reasons why I gravitated towards this song is because it reflects everything we talked about. Suddenly, a bulb went off in my head and I love that feeling.

My favorite part:

Life is impossible,

So believe,

that you’re unstoppable.

Damn LOVE that line! I’m a little late to the game but so far I’m really liking this band.

Please enjoy and hopes it inspires!

Seriously cannot wait to get to know this artist a little better!

Music Monday: TILL THE SUN BURNS OUT – [SEBELL]

[SEBELL]There are several artists I wish I could see live but haven’t had the opportunity and at the moment that artist is indie singer Greg Sczebel aka [Sebell]. The more I listen to him the more I want to be trapped in a room and listen to him sing all day. Wait….that sounds creepy but its true….he’s like a musical onion, I want to peel and explore!

At the moment Till The Sun Burns Out have been burning up the Canadian charts, major labels have been courting this independent artist but at the moment he’s undecided. Whether he remains an independent artist or sign to a label, I simply want great quality work that I know [Sebell] can and will produce. Thankfully he plans to release his EP this summer but will have to wait a little while longer for a full length album. At the moment I will take what I can get.

I.WANT.MORE.!!!

Music Monday: Gets Me Arise – Ko-Lition

KO-Lition
I’ve never been a fan of rap, granted I enjoy certain songs by Snoop, Eve, Nikki Minaj, Eminem, Jay-Z or Tupac (and I tolerate Kanye). Don’t get me wrong I think rapping takes true talent, in order to get lyrics to flow properly with the melody you need to have talent. And as much as I admired this talent it just never resonated with me. But I was really surprised how much I enjoyed watching KO-lition at the Artist In Music Award show in 2013 and the fascination began and a year later its safe to say –  I.LOVE.THEM!

Gets Me Arise is such a kick ass song, I play often especially when I feel girly and sexy. I strongly encourage anyone in the New York City area to be sure to check out KO-lition’s live show. I figure if I can fall in love with them during a 5 minute set, I would lose my mind after a full 45 minutes!

KoLition Inauguration

Don’t forget The Inauguration of KO-Lition begins July 22nd and if the songs on this upcoming CD are nearly as good as Gets Me Arise and other songs on Soundcloud, my musically world will explode in happiness.

Video: Nico Vega – “I Believe (Get Over Yourself)”

In the last couple of years Nico Vega has become one of my favorite indie bands. Aja Volkman is the kind of female front person I’ve always craved when I look for new bands and continues to inspire me.  So when Nico Vega released their song ‘I Believe (Get Over Yourself)‘  in February, it was like they were looking into my life.

Whenever I have doubts about my fitness routine, unfinished novel or simply this blog, I put this song on blast and keep on repeat until I flush away those demons. I love this band because they really emphasis loving yourself and never stop being you.  Today, the official video for ‘I Believe’ was released and directed by NV’s drummer Dan Epand.

Thank you Nico Vega for continuously making me believe!
