Video: Nico Vega – “I Believe (Get Over Yourself)”

In the last couple of years Nico Vega has become one of my favorite indie bands. Aja Volkman is the kind of female front person I’ve always craved when I look for new bands and continues to inspire me.  So when Nico Vega released their song ‘I Believe (Get Over Yourself)‘  in February, it was like they were looking into my life.

Whenever I have doubts about my fitness routine, unfinished novel or simply this blog, I put this song on blast and keep on repeat until I flush away those demons. I love this band because they really emphasis loving yourself and never stop being you.  Today, the official video for ‘I Believe’ was released and directed by NV’s drummer Dan Epand.

Thank you Nico Vega for continuously making me believe!

Song of the Day: The Filthy Souls – Cold Hearts

Artist: The Filthy Souls  (Members: Dave Green – Guitar / Vocals, Danny Wagstaff – Guitar, Mike Meza II – Bass, Topher Gale – Drums)

Song: Cold Hearts

In honor of The Filthy Souls kicking off their month long residency at the Hemingway Lounge, I chose one of my favorite songs from their latest EP.  Something about this song gets to me….there’s this raw rock sound combined with Dave Green’s voice creates something amazing that gets under your skin. I’m not ashamed to admit that Filthy have captured my musical heart and I don’t ever want to cleansed!

Come out to The Hemingway Lounge to see this amazing band live along  with Nightmare & The Cat and other special guests. Now this is how you kick off a residency!

Wires In the Walls released their new video ‘In the Rain’. The cool part is the guys filmed, edited and added special effects all on their own. The pooled their talents together and created this cool video.

Enjoy.

Video: The Filthy Souls – Destroy You

Today I’m like a girl in a candy store…..The Filthy Souls have released a video for their song ‘Destroy You’, which has been in rotation on KROQ’s Locals Only show for over a month!! So excited for this band!!

One thing I love about the video is the fact its in Black & White. Most would think it would be easy to film this way but I honestly think its more challenging and it has a certain artistic flair.

The Filthy Souls destroying the competition……

On Tuesday evening I finally had a chance to see The Filthy Souls at the KROQ: Locals Only show at The Roxy. I was delighted to find they were even better than they expected. I usually find new music at live shows, so I’m leery of finding music when I find someone online. I wonder will they be good live? Can they keep me engaged? Or are they assholes who’d make me leave in the middle of the set. The Filthy Souls were AMAZING! And yes they’re on my list of bands I need to see again, and again!

Sadly there was no merchandise but they did say an EP was in the works and yes I will have a copy as soon as its released. Until then lets help Filthy keep their #1 reign on the KROQ: Locals Only Show…..so go VOTE!! 😉 Until then enjoy the video (sorry its a little shaky :/)

Nico Vega – Lead to Light (Bronson Island)

Since I saw Nico Vega open for Imagine Dragons I’ve been slightly obsessed with them. At the moment Nico Vega is on tour with Crash Kings and they took a moment to stop by Bronson Island to perform an accoustic-ish version of their song ‘Lead to Light’ from their EP ‘Fury oh Fury’.

Never fails lead singer, Aja, gives me chills whenever she sings!

Also, Nico Vega currently has a pledge campaign in progress to raise money for their full length album. If you like what you see check out their campaign! PLEDGE NOW!

Wires In The Walls: Roadshow (Live) from Sessions On The Hill

Blaster Master Productions has debut their new video series, Sessions On The Hill featuring LA’s very own Wires in the Walls. If you follow Wires on instagram or twitter you’ll know this is the ‘shoot’ they were teasing fans with a couple of weeks ago.

I love the video and admit I’ve watched at least three times before I even thought to post a blog! I love this quote from the Blaster website…

“I opened Blaster Master Productions with the idea of providing clients the perfect blend of comfort, location, and fantastic sounding rooms.” – Ali Nikou

Thank You Blaster Master Productions for a great video!!
