Christmas Playlist 2014

It’s Christmas Time!!

That means we break out the eggnog and sing some carols while roasting some chestnuts…..right? Christmas music has definitely evolved over the years but the songs that get me in the Christmas spirit is quite different from others. Gotta Press Play Contributor, Sabrina and I picked our favorite Christmas songs we think everyone should add to their Christmas playlist!

Christmas Time (Bryan Adams) by MÉNAGE

Tammy: This is just a hopeful song about the song about the Christmas season and wanting to keep that happy feeling all year-long.

I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas by Gayla Peevey

Sabrina: I honestly can’t say why I love this song but I really do. It’s classic and just plain ridiculous and it just screams Christmas.

Lonely Christmas – Rebel Coast
Tammy: The title speaks for itself but when it first starts I instantly think of Hawaii and I instantly wish I could spend Christmas in Oahu like Mindy Kaling.

Christmas Lights – Sam Bradley

Sabrina: It’s funny, it’s cute, and it’s Sam Bradley… This girl couldn’t ask for anything more.

You’re Just Like Christmas – The Crookes

Tammy: I love the Crookes!! This song is heartfelt yet really fun – just like the band!

All I Want for Christmas – Bob Schneider

Sabrina: Not only is this song amazing but the chorus cracks me up!

My December – Linkin Park
Tammy: This is one of my favorite Christmas songs because it’s not completely about the actual day but the season. There’s a catch-22 when it comes to Christmas, for many people it’s either the happiest time of the year or the worst. This song ambiguously touches on the loneliness some feel around this time of the year.

Christmas in Hollis – Run-DMC

Sabrina: One of the best rapped Christmas songs ever.

Hope you enjoyed our list and hope some of these classic Christmas gems makes it onto your playlist.

Song of the Day: Sam Bradley – Woman You Crazy

Song of the Day: Woman You Crazy

Artist: Sam Bradley

An evening with Holly Conlan

Happy I caught the Holly Conlan show at the Satellite. Not because it was free (that is a perk) but its because Holly is one of those hidden LA treasures.

I was initially introduced to Holly’s music when she opened for Sam Bradley in 2011 during his Zuni tour. Since that tour Holly has truly come into her own as an singer/songwriter!

Sam Bradley – Late Night London Sessions

Sam Bradley has been going non-stop since the released of his EP ‘Not Your Kind’ in May with shows around the London and Manchester area and taking time to record Late Night London Sessions. It’s a series of videos shot in black and white with Sam singing songs from his EP on the deserted streets of London.

The second video from the Late Night Sessions happens to be my FAVORITE song on the EP called ‘Only Human’. I can listen to this song on repeat all day long….oh wait I HAVE played this song on repeat. Sam’s talent always blows me away, just when I think I got him figured out his goes and boggles my mind.

I hope we see more footage from the Late Night London Sessions because they make me appreciate and love the songs even more.

And those of you in the London area – GO SEE SAM LIVE!!

Now I must put Only Human on repeat.

Ciao.

I have a date with Sam Bradley!

Yes you read it right! I have a date with singer/songwriter Sam Bradley. And I don’t care who knows, I just know its be long and WAY overdue!!

Sadly my date won’t happen until May 20th! ….oh yeah I forgot to mention….it’s via itunes. Hell, I don’t care! I’m just happy its finally gonna happen…. I will finally have new Sam Bradley music!!

Sam Bradley EP Release Party! Will you be there?

Not a live show but NEW music. This will satisfy me for a little while but I will need Mr. Bradley in the US (very soon) singing his heart out while I sip on beer (I know I’m overly demanding). Lately Sam has been in touring the UK….but his fans in the US….this particular fan in Los Angeles (aka ME) miss him dearly.

The countdown has started…….10 more days…

It’s hard to believe its been 2 years since Sam released his last ep Zuni, so to say I’m anxious for new music is an understatement.

Now, I must get some beauty rest for my date with Sam!

Ta-Ta!

My Birthday Playlist….

So today is my birthday **woo hoo party time!**….I could bitch and moan about my age but will appreciate all the good music I’ve had a chance to record and enjoy. So come along with me for a recap of a fun year for me…..

It’s Time by Imagine Dragons at SxSW best showcase I saw that week. And I got a kiss from Dan so I was a happy camper!

One of my favorite musicians is Matt Corby….young and amazingly talented. I first saw him at SxSW in 2011 ( @meggst remember that moment?) but he FINALLY played at my favorite venue Hotel Cafe in March just before SxSW 2012. The lighting is bad in this video but Matt is still amazing.

A little gem I found by the name of Little Red Lung…..I love these guys so much! Again bad lighting but great music!

Another favorite for me is Sam Bradley….that boy can do no wrong in my eyes. Not only is he talented but he’s one of the nicest guys I’ve met in a long time. I wish the world would appreciate his awesomeness! (I did not take this video….I didnt make this show **no tears** so I must thank BRITPACKLOVE for posting on YouTube)

For some reason I haven’t uploaded any of the latest Tic Tic Boom! perfomances onto my YouTube….this hurts considering my compter is dead 😦 But this was taken at the Sunset Jubliee last year.

Okay I will end this posting with my favorite LA Band’s Wires In the Walls…..talented guys! Again not my video but from Jam in the Van. (www.jaminthevan.com)

Apparently on your birthday you get a wish…but you’re not suppose to tell….crap! I think you know what I wished 😉

And thank you to allt he musicians who make my life that much better – wonderful lyrics and talent to make my day a little easier. Little do you know you help so many people when you least expect it.

Video: Sarah Mac & Grace Lindsey covers Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’

Admittedly one of my favorite workout songs is ‘We Found Love’ by Rihanna. It’s your typical pop/dance song so of course I love the beat, melody, and the words.

Oh hell its simple a fun song.

So this morning as I do my usual lurking I see a tweet from Grace Lindsey about her cover of ‘We Found Love’ with Sarah Mac. I immediately followed the link and was simply mesmerized. Grace and Sarah equally have beautiful voices but together….it’s just amazing!! They made me love this song even more!
